Resources

This page will list some of the sites, books, magazines, etc, that have been frequently helpful to me in establishing this little hobby.  People who are heavily into comics will likely already know most, if not all, of these but credit should be given where it's due nonetheless.

International Hero:  The Canada-specific page is linked at right.  Lists a wide variety of characters, though the gentleman who runs it determines nationality by creator to a greater degree than TSOG will. Nonetheless, I first learned about many characters from reading that page.

Comicvine: Most of the time that I run a character through a search engine, comicvine appears among the first few results.  My favourite feature is a list of appearances per team or character.  They are thorough enough to include even cameos, flashbacks and reprints, which can be good or bad depending on whether you want to own every single panel a character has ever appeared in or you just want those you deem to be significant, but I'd rather be the one to make that call anyway. The Comic Book DB is very good for this as well.

Comic Art Community and Comic Art Fans: a couple of great sources of visuals.

Digital Comic Museum: Here again, the Canada-specific page is linked at right.  This site enabled me to download comics I would probably never get my hands on in my life.  It has allowed me the pleasure of reading early adventures of Nelvana, Captain Wonder and many others.  I was so impressed that I felt compelled to make a donation.  Getting that rare material for free just seemed wrong.
